Nassau Holiday Motel

We’re out-of-state contractors working at the Paper Mill in Fernadina, and picked this place for the location and reviews. The reviews are very misleading. There’s black mold and cockroaches in the room. They’ve put out multiple bait and sticky traps but haven’t changed them. The walls are visibly dirty, and the bed and box springs are filthy. They will not clean the room or empty the garbage, but they come in to take used towels, which are stained and falling apart, and don’t replace them. You have to go to the office to ask for toilet paper. They also make you bring linens and towels they don’t collect to the office to exchange. The toilet hasn’t been cleaned, and the floor hasn’t been swept or mopped in weeks. I asked the owner for a broom and was told I couldn’t use it because they only have one. The shower doesn’t drain. The walls are thin, so you hear neighbors, TVs, and all the traffic. Sheriffs and emergency vehicles have shown up several times during our stay to deal with the office and multiple tenants. They “hire” housekeepers in a shady arrangement where they stay in rooms. We’ve had items go missing from ours. A lot of people stay here long term. The owner can be very rude and overcharged us. We pay week to week and arrived on a Sunday. We pay Saturday evening because we work 12.5-hour days. This past week the owner argued with us and charged an extra night because we paid on Sunday. We’re moving to a much nicer, cheaper hotel in Kingsland, GA this weekend. I’d suggest driving 30 minutes for a better stay.
