Falcon Executive Inn

Being right off the highway makes Falcon Executive Inn handy in Zapata, Texas, and the rooms stayed quiet enough for a good rest. They were clean too. The property has been renovated recently, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. There's an outdoor pool and a BBQ area, plus a market nearby for essentials. A simple, affordable place to stop on a road trip or on the way to Falcon Lake.

The Holiday Inn next door ended up taking care of us, and I’ll stay there next time and pay the extra $20. We’d held a confirmed reservation here for over a month, but two days before our visit they called to say they no longer had a two-bed room. Since that was their mistake, they offered two single rooms beside each other. The next morning, though, they said the manager had rejected the extra room and cancelled the reservation.

The location is great, and the rooms were clean and quiet. But there’s nowhere to sit, no clock, and no place to hang clothes. There aren’t bedside outlets for phone chargers or hooks in the bathroom for towels or clothes, either. I’d pay the extra $20 for the Holiday Inn.

I was planning to spend eight months here for work, at $450 a week, and had booked two weeks at a time. During my last weekend, my son got sick in Houston, so I had to leave two days early. I meant to come back the following week, but they refused to refund those two unused days, keeping $130. They’ve lost the $14,500 I would have spent over the eight months. The manager isn’t very bright. I’ll tell the corporate office.
