Tranquility Bay

I would give this place negative stars if I could. We booked Cabin 71 for five adults and two children because it was advertised as sleeping eight with a full kitchen. After booking, we got no confirmation or other information, and spent hours calling before I finally reached someone who could tell me the check-in time. The cabin is joined to what may be the old office, and it seemed untouched for decades. The floor was peeling and bubbled up, and the walls were covered in mold. The AC barely worked, so we couldn’t get the temperature below 80. Two window units had garbage-bag boxes taped into the windows. The rooms smelled like rotten fish and sewer. Bathroom door frames were broken, and there were only four bath towels for seven people. The kitchen had no dishes and just one fork. The return air was a hole in the floor with water in it. I don’t even want to think about the beds. The office stayed closed all weekend, and we couldn’t reach anyone. It was that terrible, this place needs to be reported to the board of health. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

We had a nice spot by the lake, but were the only camper there for all three days, and now I can see why. We brought our camper for Easter Weekend and were promised internet, cable, and sewer hookups, but got none of them. The sewer lines weren’t working even after maintenance checked them. The staff couldn’t say whether cable and internet were available, and there was never anyone in the office to help. There were poles but no outside lights. The pool was closed, run down, and had black water. Weeds were all around our site.

I was embarrassed that my family had to stay here during our visit. The cabins smelled, the sheets were stained, and mosquitoes were all through the unit. It was hard to reach anyone, and we had to call to get blankets. One employee seemed to handle most things, with a maintenance person available to call. The lighting was poor, and the business felt disorganized. There’s more, but that should give you enough reason to avoid this place.

We spent a couple of months here for a job and loved the beautiful lake setting. Tonya and her husband take great care of the place. She’s awesome and really nice. Highly recommend 👌
