We arrived at the 4 pm time we had selected when booking through booking.com, but there was nobody there. We called and sent an SMS in Spanish and got no reply, and the number wasn’t on WhatsApp either. After half an hour of trying to find someone, we still hadn’t seen any staff, just piles of dirty towels. The apartments also looked old and poorly maintained. We cancelled, and nobody has replied to me since. Wouldn’t recommend it.

The owner was really friendly, and we had a great time. The front studio apartments are pleasant and have the basics, though the bathrooms are tiny and only comfortable for slim people. It’s close to the beach, with a nice frontage, benches and Paraguayan hammocks. There’s no parking, and the cane roofs over the grills could use improvement since you can’t use them when it rains.

The apartment we were offered was on the top floor, up an extremely narrow, steep log staircase. With my hip problems, going up and down whenever we needed to leave was very uncomfortable. We had booked through Booking.com and paid a $134 deposit. The alternative they suggested was a semi-abandoned house being renovated. We spent the whole day trying to find somewhere else to stay and lost the deposit.

It’s on a quiet little street, just a short walk from both the beach and the town center. We first came in January and were back again in February. The place is lovely, and the hosts were kind and always ready to help.

The beach is close, which is a plus, but I’m not sure that makes up for the rest. Nobody was there to meet us even though we’d emailed our arrival time, and some guys had to help us reach the person looking after the place to find out where the keys were. The bathroom was very uncomfortable. I can’t recommend it.
