El fortín del Rubio

The cottages sit in a great spot on the cape, with views of both beaches. They’re about a five-minute walk from the bus drop-off and have everything we needed. There’s solar power for charging small devices like phones and laptops, plus electricity, a fridge, fresh water, and gas-heated hot water. I’d definitely stay again.

The beds, sheets, and towels were excellent, and the house was spotless when we arrived. It’s beautifully put together, with tasteful details. Cabo is a dream, though staying in the available ranches can be rustic and challenging. El Fortín del Rubio made it possible to enjoy the magic of the place with more comfort while still fitting what the location can offer. The kitchen could use a few more items since what’s there is very basic, but I managed to cook without trouble. We’ll definitely come back.

We had a perfect weekend here. The views were lovely, and the location was great. The small house had everything we needed, and both water and electricity worked perfectly. The owner was always on hand when we had a question or request.

The houses are great, but we ran into problems with the one we booked: there was no hot water, and the stove didn’t work. We ended up moving to a smaller house across the way. I’d paid for a two-bedroom house but stayed in a one-bedroom, and the host didn’t refund the difference. I booked through Booking, then the host asked me to cancel so she could take payment through PayPal, since she only accepted cash through Booking. I agreed, and that was a mistake. After that, I had no way to complain about what happened. Be careful, and don’t pay outside the booking platform, because it’s much harder to resolve problems if something goes wrong.
