Hotel Paraty

That pool was the one bright spot in an otherwise gloomy stay. I arrived on February 23, 2023, for one night because I needed somewhere nearby. There was no water from the tap, in the toilet, or in the shower through the night. Water came back the next day, but only for a few hours, and I left without getting a shower. Truly awful. The bathroom door wouldn't close, and the hotel felt run down, worn out, old, gray, and sad. The price is far too high for the service. I told the owner what had happened; she said she'd "look into it," but I got no apology, let alone a refund. I wouldn't come back.

I spent the weekend here for a birthday party and had a fantastic time. The staff were excellent. The heated pool is chlorine-free, which is essential for people with allergies.

We were steps from the beach, and the place was great for relaxing. The hotel itself is old, but our apartment was comfortable, with renovated, clean rooms and everything we needed: a fridge, electric kettle, and microwave. There were two TVs and two air conditioners. The heated pool also has a place to eat, and the simple restaurant served excellent food at very good prices. The staff overall, including the waiters, were excellent.

We left our bags there and took a stroll along the beach after stopping for a bite. The food was excellent, especially the fresh fish. When we came back, we had coffee, and they later told us it was complimentary. The staff were super friendly. Highly recommend.
