We mostly chose the beach over the pool and jacuzzi, though both were nice. The waves can get rough, so watch out, and there are plenty of lifeguards who’ll warn you if you swim too far out. Back at the hotel, the room didn’t look onto the beach, but the view from the back porch had a pleasant country feel. The location is great, and the guest services team was prompt and really nice. The bartender was friendly and knew his drinks, and made us a good Grappuy. Breakfast came with croissants, cereal, bread, milk, coffee, and orange juice, with eggs available cooked how you like them.

The staff were so nice and always ready to help. Maite' was one of the best desk managers I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. The location is superb, close to the beach, easy to reach from the main road, with plenty of parking and only a few blocks from the city center. Our medium-sized room was beautiful, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious too, especially the pastries, which were hard to stop eating. One of my best hotel stays.

Hotel Anastasio has a laid-back, clubby feel, with no pretensions. At night they light the fire pit, and the shared spaces include a large pool for guests, a smaller one for kids, a play area with ping pong, and a restaurant open to the public. Pets are welcome, but check first rather than assuming. Our room was a comfortable size, not huge, and felt a bit like a bedroom in a friend's upscale beach house. It had a small balcony, mini-refrigerator, kettle, and safe for passports and other valuables. The bathroom was nicely appointed, and beach towels are available at the front desk. I stayed in Villa 2, Room 6, where the water view stretches across the dunes, and the waves sound magical. The hotel sits in a quiet, small private development with homes as well as the hotel and club. It’s just steps from the Brava beach, and Parador La Huella, Uruguay’s most famous restaurant and perenially among Latin America’s Top 50, is a short 5-minute walk along the beach. José is a great place to stay, especially with family. Manager Andréa was welcoming, super nice, and helpful. For the quality, location, and atmosphere, it’s hard to beat the price. Highly recommended.

Carolina went above and beyond to make our stay special. The food was delicious and homemade, and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. I loved the contemporary chic design. The hotel is right on the beach and about three blocks from the heart of Jose Ignacio. I loved every minute of staying at Anastacio hotel.
