The women who looked after the rooms were lovely, but I'd stay away from this place. The pool was dirty, the grass around it hadn't been cut, the TV didn't work, and internet was only available in the lobby. The building felt dilapidated. The woman handling arrivals seemed to hate her job. Breakfast was included, but bad from the coffee and orange juice to the dry, stale pastries. We had planned to stay at Hotel de la Torre, which was absolutely awesome and right across from the beach for 75 dollars, but they were overbooked. This was the only place available, for 100 dollars. I understand Is 80 years old.

If you're not Uruguayan, don't stay here. They denied us the IVA discount for foreigners, making excuse after excuse, and repeatedly refused to give us an itemized bill.

Pretty lousy.

The staff were easily the best part of the stay. They were kind, helpful, and worked hard to give good service despite clearly limited staff and resources. The location is excellent, right in central La Paloma, about 50 meters from a supermarket and an ATM, and close to shops and restaurants. The swimming beaches are around 700 meters or more away, though, so you'll need a car or taxi. The building is old, and the condition and cleanliness were disappointing. The elevator was out of order, there was dampness on ceilings and walls, the carpets were old, and some electrical installations looked unsafe. The two pools, one outdoors and one heated, were the most redeeming part of the facilities. There's also a bar open from 7 pm, with tasty choices and good service, but everything costs extra. The pool table and other entertainment were a nice touch. Breakfast was nowhere near what I'd expect from a 3-star hotel. It was limited and low quality, items weren't kept cold enough, and even basic things like napkins were missing. Between the hotel's condition and the breakfast, it doesn't live up to a 3-star rating. For the price, it felt more like a 1-star stay.
