Hotel La Casona

It's a quiet spot for sleeping, about five minutes from most of the promenade restaurants and ten minutes from the beaches. The rooms are just a bed, a closet and a bathroom, which was all I needed for sleeping and showering between days at the beach or meals out. The staff are really friendly, and it has a family-run feel. They did their best to help, even with my bad Spanish.

Just average.

We didn't have a car this time and got around on foot easily. The hotel is close to the main avenue and two supermarkets, and within walking distance of the bay and the balcony. The fishing shop is near Sargo, and the local parish church is just around the corner. We ordered food several times and could eat in the breakfast room. When it rained one night, Sebastián lent us umbrellas so we could still run our errands. It's a simple, quiet beach hotel that does what it promises. The rooms were clean and tidy, the beds comfortable, and we slept really well. They have AC, a ceiling fan and a mini-fridge in the rooms, which I later found out isn't common. Breakfast is continental, with bread and pastries freshly made each day by bakers, and the bread is handmade at the hotel. There are two jacuzzis and a flowery garden with lots of greenery, with Paraguayan hammocks in between for relaxing. Miguel, Sebastián and the rest of the team gave excellent service. We'd come back a thousand times, and we will.

Everyone was so kind that I left feeling grateful and hoping to come back. The hotel is spotless and well organized, with an impeccable breakfast and free laundry service. Miguel and the staff were warm and professional. I especially want to mention Daily. My bus to Montevideo was at 6:40 a.m., and although breakfast normally starts at 8:00, she made mine at 5:30 so I wouldn't have to leave without eating. She was incredibly kind.
