Upstairs, they have rooms for lodging, while the beautiful backyard has a little stage. The enormous house has several spaces that make you want to take everything in, decorated in a vintage style but arranged with real care. I hadn’t even known Casa Tatú existed until I visited, and it completely captivated me. I want to come back soon.
What a shame that an ignorant man at the door can leave such a bad impression. The bouncer treated us terribly, told us to go back to our country, and said we were only there to gossip. He was disrespectful and very xenophobic. I was really in love with Montevideo, so it’s upsetting that people like this are hired and end up damaging the city’s image and the country’s reputation.
We had such a blast celebrating my 50th birthday here. The whole place was quirky, exactly my kind of thing, and decorating it was a lot of fun. We even dressed up the statues! 😀 An unbeatable choice.
The exposed walls give the place a lovely atmosphere and background, but the furniture is a haphazard mix of different eras. The walls are damp, and it gets seriously cold in winter.
Very original, and nice and spacious for a birthday or a meal with friends and family.
