The rooms felt dated and pretty depressing, and the facilities weren’t really suitable for a holiday. Breakfast was awful, with the food left out on the side and no fridges for anything that needed to stay cold. The pool was too warm to swim in. The best part was being asked to pay double for the room when checking out.

The staff were kind and attentive, but I regretted booking this IHG hotel on my first trip to Uruguay. It’s in the old area near the port, and I understood that many of the guests were mariners who smoked heavily and played at the casino. There was even an ashtray in the guest room, and cigarette smoke filled the hotel. Aside from the updated air conditioning system, the elevators, entrances, and common areas all felt very old. If you’re expecting an IHG-level hotel, I wouldn’t stay here.

The breakfast was poor, though the location and pool were nice extras. The suite was okay for the price, and the cleaning was excellent. It was an okay four-night stay until they tried to charge double the amount booked on the IHG website. The cost has to be part of the review, and that really soured it.

I was there for business, and the service really wasn’t good. They ignored me while chatting among themselves, and I had to wait a long time. Next time I’ll stay at the Radisson, where the staff are much friendlier.

If you enjoy walking, the location is perfect. You can get to all the tourist spots on foot, and it’s very convenient.
