We’ve stayed in so many hostels I’ve lost count, and this one looked promising in a nice, quiet neighborhood. I saw staff cleaning regularly, but it still always felt dirty. There was mold in the shower, and the mattresses and pillows were yellow and covered in stains. I saw the pillow on my bed without a case and felt sick, so I asked for another. They looked confused. My friend was covered in mosquito bites at night. They also openly talk about a man who stays there full time and is known for stealing. The biggest issue came when our plans changed. If you book multiple nights, stick to just one or two at a time, because management won’t refund unused nights, even if they resell them. We asked and they shrugged, saying, “Well, it’s Uruguay,” almost proudly. It was the first time a hostel had refused to return payment for nights we didn’t use. They said they don’t care about bad reviews because there’s always a good one to offset them. It was clear our experience didn’t matter to them. My friends and I were surprised by the high Hostelworld rating. It isn’t deserved, and I definitely don’t recommend this place.

The location is okay, in a pretty safe area, and the rooms are spacious. The hostel has an alright kitchen and a nice patio, but there aren’t enough bathrooms for the number of guests. There are a lot of men staying here, so I wouldn’t recommend it to a woman traveling alone. I had a bad experience with another guest. The hostel team did help me and handled it well, but I still wouldn’t come back.

The outdoor area is spacious and cool, and the kitchen is big and well equipped. The 9 bed dorm has three sets of three bunk beds, but they’re separate, so other people climbing into bed don’t disturb you. Every bed has its own light and socket, and there’s AC in the room. Laundry service was good and fairly priced. The owner is nice, and the staff are kind and helpful with whatever you need. Cute, fun hostel. I’d come again.

Our room at the back of the house was quiet and air conditioned, with its own terrace. The kitchen and garden were lovely, and the place has a really nice home feel. I’d just suggest giving the kitchen and bathrooms a deep clean. We had a great stay!

The place felt spotless. Someone was always on shift, 24 hours a day, and whoever was working seemed to be cleaning something. It’s the cleanest hostel I’ve stayed in. The people made it feel like home. Staff and long-term guests were so kind and welcoming, and included me in things, while still leaving plenty of room to spend time alone. The shared space is great, with a living and TV area with Netflix and HBO, eating and coworking space, comfy seats at the front, a front patio, and a back garden with a BBQ and seating. The shared kitchen has all the basics. Uruguay wasn’t in my plans, but I had to make a last-minute diversion. Gerardo got back to me very quickly, booking direct was easy, and they arranged airport pickup too. Breakfast is all you can eat from 8am to 11am. It’s basic but more than enough for $5. The breakfast cake, made fresh every morning, was so good I got obsessed with it and had to join a gym. I’ll 100% be back. Echando a todos mucho de menos 💗
