The room was small and basic, but clean, and they cleaned it daily. The location is handy, just a 5-minute walk to the bus terminal, and the staff were all nice and helpful. Some speak English. A few in-room fixtures need replacing, like the loose power socket in the wall.

The ocean is just steps away, and there are useful shops close by, including a fresh market and a Red Pagos/Abitab. Bus stations are only a few minutes' walk away too. The location is hard to beat. The rooms are compact but practical, a comfortable place to recharge after a busy workday or a convention.

The room worked for sleeping and showering, but not much else. Its view faced other buildings, so I didn't enjoy opening the curtains. The location is excellent, the best part. WiFi was worse than I expected from other reviews, and I had to switch networks several times during meetings. It wasn't dependable enough to use.

The rooms can feel small, plain, and a little neglected, but the hotel is good value. Shelton Hotel is right in the city, within walking distance of nearby beaches and many interesting places in Punta del Este.

The bed was fine, and so was breakfast. Parking may be available in front of the hotel, but if not, you can use the casino parking and pay a fee. The hotel feels dated and in poor shape, with everything looking shabby and in need of urgent renovation. It doesn't deserve a 3-star rating.
