Old Bukhara Boutique Hotel

The hotel was dusty and not very clean. The air conditioning in one room also didn’t work. I spoke to the owner by phone and agreed on a price, but after we’d stayed one night, he raised it the next morning. I’d told him we were coming as a larger group, but some people couldn’t make it, so there were fewer of us than expected. The price should have gone down, yet he charged me more. The owner is a scam, and if you’re a tourist unfamiliar with how things work here, you’ll be scammed 100%. After reading the owner’s response, you can tell what kind of place this is. No more words are needed. Finding a better hotel isn’t hard, there’s one around every corner.

This is really a guest house, in a very central location, with friendly staff. But right now it’s little more than a building site. Only a few rooms are ready; elsewhere it’s bare brick and concrete, which was very unpleasant. There isn’t even a front door, just a hole in the wall. The owner still charges full price, so it’s poor value and bad business practice. I’d avoid it for now. Update: This review describes the property as it was on the 21st of April.

The two brothers running this charming little hotel did everything they could to make sure we were comfortable and happy. It’s recently renovated and just steps from the Kalon Minaret, historic monuments, souks, restaurants, and other sights.

The rooms were dusty, and the property looked nothing like the pictures. It was still under construction and not pleasant to look at, yet the price was higher than it was worth. After staying one night, the owner raised the price, despite our having agreed on a different amount the day before. When I reminded him, he denied ever saying it. I felt he was trying to scam us because we were tourists and new here. It wasn’t worth the cost, so I cut my stay short and moved to another hotel.
