Samani Bukhara

You can get around without a car, walking through the old streets to the nearby historic sights, restaurants, and cafés. The hotel is right in the old city. It’s a traditional two-story house run by a generous, kind Uzbek family who provided everything we needed. The ten classic rooms are warm, spacious, and very quiet, with a medieval feel. Thanks to the family for such a warm welcome and hospitality. I highly recommend the place for its character and the experience.

The staff were very rude, and the room was small, noisy, and not clean. Once breakfast starts, it’s hard to rest. Staff kept switching off the AC. A taxi can’t reach the hotel, so you have to carry all your luggage 100 meters.

Samani Bukhara was a charming family-run hotel, and we loved the warm, genuine hospitality. Its central old town location made it easy to walk to all the main sights.

The mattresses in our rooms sagged in the middle and gave me back pain. There was also no sign explaining the hot water: the tap had to be turned right, not left as in most places. We found hot water on the left in Xiva and Toshkent, so this doesn’t seem to be the case across all of Uzbekistan. On the plus side, the location was excellent, the host was kind and very helpful, and breakfast was one of the healthiest and most nourishing we’ve ever had. The value for money and the main host gentleman’s warm nature still make it a four-star stay.
