Eagle Rock

The walk to the little waterfall was nice, and the mountain view was amazing. Staff were friendly and kind. The kitchen made really tasty food, though there wasn’t a menu. Getting there is the hard part: the road from the main highway is badly damaged and difficult to drive on.

We’ve stayed here several times and loved it each time. The rooms are great, the linens are clean, and there are three meals a day. You can also cook for yourself if you want. It’s a lovely place for walks, with air so fresh you feel like you could eat it with a spoon. In the morning, I like to take a can of water and a cup of coffee and enjoy the view. We’ll come back if we get the chance.

There wasn’t much to do apart from the pool and waterfall, and the grounds felt neglected. The pool was dirty, and a nearby horse stable smelled awful. We came as a group, and a large group of churchgoers with children took over the pool, leaving socks and underwear behind. The administrator did nothing about it. At night, a mouse ran over me while I slept. I spent the rest of the night trying to catch it, then found a hole in the wall. The kitchen was very unsanitary, and the old refrigerators smelled terrible. Other guests gave us annoyed looks and talked about us while we tried to entertain ourselves. It felt like a place to sit on a stool in nature among other people. The vacation was so-so. I strongly recommend bringing your own food.
