Sultan Hotel

We stayed here for a business trip and booked three rooms. They were clean and comfortable, and the staff were warm, welcoming, and friendly. Google Maps calls it a 2 star hotel, though it felt closer to 4 stars to me, with a swimming pool, sauna, gym, and a nice restaurant. Breakfast was good, and we enjoyed the food at both dinners.

For a 2 star hotel, the service felt like 6 star. The staff were among the friendliest and most helpful I’ve met, and they wouldn’t even accept a tip when I offered. They were truly warm and kind. The newly decorated rooms are beautiful too. If I return to Qarshi, I’d choose this hotel without hesitation.

The staff’s lack of English was the biggest frustration for me. Most of them didn’t speak it at all, which feels unacceptable for a hotel of this level in 2024. Thankfully, Nazokat and Akbar at reception speak English fluently and helped me whenever I needed it, including with breakfast orders and explaining the destination to taxi drivers. The hotel has a small but well equipped gym open 24/7, plus a spa with a small pool and sauna. The sauna costs 0.25 euro. They were also flexible and let me check out late. Sultan hotel has recently been renovated and is now among the best in the city. The rooms are soundproof, the furniture is brand new, the bathroom is spacious with a generous amenity kit, and cleanliness is excellent. Breakfast was acceptable, though I’d have liked more milk and dairy products. The food wasn’t presented well, and there were some flies around it. Breakfast runs from 7 to 10, but when I asked after 9 for the buffet to be refilled, I was told they couldn’t because the food had run out.

One thing that made the stay inconvenient was the lack of tea bags, coffee sachets, and a kettle in the room. You can ask to have tea brought up in a teapot, though. Sultan is among the best hotels in Kashkadarya, but judging by standards across Uzbekistan, I’ve seen much better hotels in other regions.
