The old town is a pleasant short walk away, though the hotel itself is a bit out of the way. Service was an effort, but English was minimal if you didn’t get the right staff. The men who spent all day in the lobby were apparently meant to handle luggage, but seemed to miss that part of the job. We booked a suite, which was large, though the look of it is a matter of taste. There were obvious detail problems: loose flooring, a bathroom that flooded regularly, and a mirror light that didn’t work. The property felt generic and short on attention to detail. Breakfast was just as lackluster, and the coffee was terrible. By Uzbek standards this is certainly high-end. Judged by international hospitality standards, though, there’s room for improvement.
