Carousel Khiva was a real disappointment. The stay wasn't worth $25; I've found much better places in Uzbekistan for less. The bathroom was soaked when I arrived, the shower was broken, and the curtain was dirty. Laundry was quoted at $5, but the price ended up being $4 per kg, so I took it to the neighbours instead. Breakfast was poor: old, hard bread, a brown apple, cold French toast, and even basic things like spoons were missing. When I reported the problems and asked for a partial refund, the reply was rude and dismissive, with no responsibility taken. I wouldn't recommend it. There are much better options at this price, including places closer to or inside the city walls.

The room was very clean and breakfast was nice. It’s outside Icahn qala, but still in a lovely spot. If you’d like to try staying in a Madrasah, this is a great place for it.

The staff made this stay especially memorable. They even prepared birthday gifts for my friend, and in the evenings we played backgammon and chatted about history. The old madrasa has a lovely atmosphere that keeps the feeling of the past alive. Breakfast was good too, with fresh omelets and tasty appetizers. It was one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in in Uzbekistan, and a peaceful, inspiring place. Highly recommend!

The rooms were fresh, spacious, and clean, with amazing decor. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, and breakfast was great. The location is good, and you really do stay in a Madrassa. Best place to stay.

We had two bicycles with us, and the owners let us bring them into the inner courtyard for safe storage. They take real pride in the rooms and are ready to help with anything you need, while also being genuinely interested in you as people. Our room was clean and simple, just what we needed. It had its own bath, excellent AC, and heat prevention built into the structure. Breakfast was generous and delicious. They also happily made my partner an omelet without cheese or butter to accommodate a dairy allergy. We stayed two nights and were delighted with the place. I’d highly recommend it to anyone coming to Khiva.
