The room had air conditioning, a TV, complimentary drinks, a hairdryer, some toiletries, a bidet shower, and a good shower. The curtains were good too, and a room at the back of the hotel avoids being woken by sunrise. The king-size bed came with a double duvet, which was odd. There was no safe, fridge, or kettle, and no extractor fan. The toilet lid wouldn’t stay up, so it was propped with double-sided tape, and the drains smelled. It’s a 10-minute walk to the airport and 30 minutes to the art gallery. The train station is probably too far to walk. WiFi was good. Laundry cost 15,000 per item, with ironing extra. Breakfast was a good buffet: porridge, fresh, stewed and dried fruit, cheese, meat, bread, cake, pancakes, and hot dishes. One day there were eggs, sausages, and pasta; the next, a kind of stew. The dill eggy bread was fantastic, and I’ll try making it at home. The staff were helpful and friendly, though they couldn’t tell us when the Savitsky museum opened. They did arrange a taxi to Khiva for $50 paid directly to the driver. I suspect that was expensive, but the roads weren’t great and it’s a three-hour trip. We paid $140 by card for two people in a double room for two nights.

Very close to the airport and easy to get to. They speak good English.
