We arrived with a fully paid Airbnb booking, but the hotel refused to let us in, saying they don’t work with Airbnb. We had a confirmed reservation and were effectively turned away. The staff were very unfriendly and showed no interest in helping us find a solution. They demanded cash if we wanted to stay, which seemed like an attempt to avoid taxes. It felt unprofessional and, to us, illegal. They showed no concern for our situation, leaving us stranded and scrambling to find somewhere else at the last minute. It caused a lot of stress and inconvenience. As Swedes travelling from Europe, we were very disappointed with how we were treated. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel; save yourself the trouble and avoid it.

After about two weeks here, I’d happily stay again. The staff were consistently pleasant and helpful, and the filling breakfast had fresh fruit, cheeses, meats and several hot dishes. It was easy to walk to lots of historic sites, Samarkand State University, and plenty of places to eat.

I spent over two weeks at this new, family-run hotel and would highly recommend it. Service was excellent, breakfast was great, and the whole stay felt low stress. It’s close to everything, with a short walk to what Samarkand offers for work or tourism. The staff speak enough English.

As bikepackers, we found this hotel a bit pricey, but it was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. We’d been looking for a hostel, but they were all closed because of covid. A friendly Amina staff member came across us on the street and showed us the way to Amina hotel. The WiFi wasn’t always great in every room, but breakfast was tasty and the beds were nice.
