Hotel Marokand

The inner courtyard has lovely places to sit and enjoy the complimentary tea, and the main sights are very close. The host was friendly and helpful, making this a pleasant place to stay. It’s best to arrange a station transfer through the hotel to avoid getting ripped off by taxi drivers. Payment is cash only.

I got a really good rest here, thanks in part to the quality of the beds. Service was very good, and the staff deserve only positive feedback. Breakfast was good, though vegan choices were limited. I also appreciated the refill station on the minus one floor for reusable water bottles, plus the spa’s big shampoo bottles and reusable massage blankets. It’s great that the hotel takes steps to reduce waste. The new hotel has a very cool spa, and I loved thoughtful details like the wooden shoe brush, not a plastic sponge, and the umbrella at reception. That umbrella was a lifesaver during rainy days in Samarkand. Thank you!

The historic sights are nearby, though restaurants, the post office, and other places are some distance away. Breakfast was plentiful and the air conditioning worked well. The room was very comfortable, but the mattress was getting soft and the door could use curtains.

There are plenty of restaurants and shops around the hotel, and the atmosphere inside was nice. We were welcomed with tea and local treats, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We had a very pleasant stay. The breakfast buffet was OK.
