I used to like this hotel a lot, but the new pay upfront policy has made things difficult. When I asked whether I could pay at checkout, the receptionist said yes, but I had to leave my passport with them. The day after my stay, I was locked out of my room and asked to pay again. Having to find a bank and exchange currency was a hassle, and the hotel employees didn’t seem bothered by it. If you’re used to modern hotels, the service here may leave you disappointed. I wouldn’t recommend it.

We had a lovely stay at Orient Star Hotel @ Samarkand. The staff were friendly and always helpful. The rooms were very good, and there’s a nice new restaurant for breakfast, plus a garden with a large pool. Thank you!

The pool is the hotel’s only attraction, but it closes for cleaning during working hours. We had to complain to get it opened. Breakfast wasn’t good at all: the hot dishes were cold, and there were few choices for vegetarians.

The breakfast here is excellent, with a variety of food and drinks. Orient Star Hotel is a very deluxe, comfortable place for individuals and families alike. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

There’s no elevator, so getting luggage up to the third floor can be a challenge, though bell boys are available to carry it. The kitchen service was good, but the vegi were extremely saulty for 3 days in a roll. The sink and bath tub also drained very slowly.
