Gur Emir Palace Hotel

Breakfast was the highlight: a buffet of fresh food with loads of salads and great choices for vegetarians. Some of the best food I had in Uzbekistan. We ate on the roof terrace overlooking the Gur-i Amir Mausoleum, and went back up at night for fruit tea. The hotel staff were welcoming from the moment we arrived and made us feel at home. Our twin room was comfortable, had everything we needed, and the air conditioning worked well. The style was lovely and suited the area. The location was great too, a couple of minutes on foot from the mausoleum and a safe 15-minute walk to Registan square. Some restaurants and nice cafes were also within a safe walking distance. Amazing value, and I'd stay again in a heartbeat.

At Gur Emir Place, the atmosphere felt comfortable and welcoming, and the service was excellent. The staff were kind, professional, and always ready to help. I truly enjoyed my stay and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Samarqand.

The rooftop terrace has a stunning view of the Gur Emir and the Regestan in the distance. The neighborhood location was convenient too, close to the Gur Emir. Those were the best parts for us, but I wouldn't recommend the hotel. Surely there are small hotels with better maintained rooms. Our lower room facing the inner courtyard was dark, and the bathrooms were very small. The shower was especially cramped in a corner, with no bathtub, and the bathroom amenities weren't great, so bring your own. The shower drain in our room didn't get fixed during our four-night stay. After a lot of back and forth, we moved rooms on the last evening, which made the stay uncomfortable. Maybe that's why they wanted full payment at check-in? Breakfast was adequate, nothing special. We were relieved to move on to Bukhara, where we found the comfort and friendliness we'd missed at Gur Emir Palace.

We especially enjoyed breakfast, with plenty of healthy choices, including very, very tasty salads and vegetable dishes. The rooms were beautifully decorated, and the hot water and wifi were good. Staff were smart, helpful, and courteous. It's a 20-minute walk to Registan and three minutes to Gur Amir Mausoleum. Thanks to the management and reception team, and to the two ladies who cook breakfast every morning. One of the best hotels we've stayed in.
