Maqom Plaza Hotel

Service was very weak, and I really can't recommend this hotel. The hotel has recently raised its prices, with even the most basic single room now costing SUM 450,000, a price that doesn't match the quality. On arrival day, there was no electricity for several hours, so there was no light or internet, and no water in the bathroom. The next day, the water never got warm enough for a shower, reaching at most 25 degrees. Breakfast was more than mediocre: a few cold fried eggs, egg pancakes, some cheese and bread. There were no drinks, vegetables, or fruit, and everything was laid out carelessly.

The location is close to the park with its monuments, and the main entrance has a beautiful interior. But the WiFi only reaches the lobby, so the smart TVs in the rooms don't work. The mattresses are uncomfortably firm, and only two of the eight plug sockets in our room worked. Breakfast was more like a snack, mostly watermelon and out-of-date cookies. It was served in a back room, not the beautiful main hall shown in photos. I'd suggest visiting Shahrisabz for the day instead of staying here.

The impressive entrance can be misleading. The hotel is overpriced and dirty, breakfast is on the third floor, and they don't switch on the elevator, so you have to climb the stairs. The breakfast itself is almost nonexistent, and the service is awful. They asked me for 50 dollars a night, although the official price was lower. As a solo traveller, I got them down to 35, but you can find better places for less. Avoid at all costa.

A nice stay, with a spacious room and an excellent breakfast.
