Art Apart Hotel

We were overcharged, and when we asked for an explanation or a refund, they refused. The dismissive, hostile replies made it feel as if they were simply trying to take our money. From the moment we arrived, reception staff treated us with disrespect and were incredibly rude and unprofessional. The lack of basic service and honesty is unacceptable. I had a terrible experience and wouldn't recommend this hotel. Save yourself the trouble and avoid it.

It's a lovely, quaint hotel, and the staff were very attentive. The room was decent and breakfast was a nice little offering. It's around 2 1/2 miles from the railway station and 3/4 of a mile from the nearest metro. Certainly excellent value for money.

They would come into our room without permission, break things, then blame us. We also relied on them to arrange a trip to another city and paid the money, but somehow they claimed they hadn't received it or that we hadn't paid. The way they treated customers was awful and completely unacceptable. This hotel was very unexpected.

The breakfast was moderately decent, with some kind of meat, eggs you could poach, fruit, desserts, cookies, and bread. The staff were very friendly, and the location works if you need the airport. A ride there costs less than $2.00 US, or 15000 SOM at 11000 Som per US Dollar, quite a conversion rate. My room was $20 a night, which is actually not bad, and it was clean. The rooms are tiny, though, and the beds are twin sized in most rooms, very firm and not very comfortable. Some rooms have the bathroom down the hall, like mine. Nearby businesses can be noisy. The curtains didn't cover my whole window, and there was another hotel right across the street, not 40 feet away, so privacy was an issue. The covers are an odd comforter-sheet combination, either too warm or okay if you leave the window open or the A/C on. Even in winter, my room was overly warm, go figure. The bathroom being down the hall was the main downside.
