The hygiene problems were awful. The sheets didn’t look changed between guests: I found hair, including pubic hair, in the bed, and another room had visible feces stains on its sheets. After I took the dirty sheets to reception, I personally saw staff put those same sheets back for other guests without washing or replacing them. We had had intimate relations in them, which makes this extremely disgusting and a serious health risk. There were cockroaches in the room too. There were problems from the start with the price: on arrival, the hotel first refused to honor the Booking.com rate and tried to charge us more. We had to insist before they used the correct price. We also didn’t get the room we booked. The first one had no window, poor soundproofing, and was right next to reception. Switching rooms made things worse. The mattresses were extremely hard, so sleeping was difficult. The hotel showed no respect for guests or basic hygiene. Strongly not recommended.
The location is handy for exploring Tashkent, in a quiet neighborhood about a seven-minute walk from Kosmonavtlar metro station. The outdoor area and pool were lovely for unwinding after a day out, and the staff were warm and helpful, with useful tips that made the place feel welcoming. Rooms were spacious, clean, and well kept, with comfortable beds, air conditioning, and free Wi-Fi. Breakfast had pancakes, eggs, fresh fruit, and other choices, though vegetarians may find the options limited. One practical downside: they only take cash, which could be inconvenient. I had a wonderful stay at Art Hostel and would recommend it to travelers wanting a cozy, convenient place in Tashkent.
The breakfast was okay, if a little repetitive, and even included watermelon and melon. The room had no refrigerator, but we could use one in the dining room. It was clean, the air conditioner worked, and the pool was cleaned during our three-day stay, so a 4 feels fair, even though I first wanted to give a 3 because reception wasn’t helpful. The cooks and cleaning staff were friendly. The young man at reception, though, couldn’t advise us about the city or suggest places to go, and wasn’t responsive. They gave us a WhatsApp number, but apparently couldn’t bring anything to the room. Reception needs to improve.
The room was clean and comfortable, with two twin beds, a private bathroom, and working A/C. It’s close to the airport. I liked having drinking water, plus dispensers for hand soap, shampoo, and body wash.
At 2:40 PM, we came back to the hotel and were told our room would take another 30 minutes. The man at reception also asked us to pay extra tax, even though Booking said taxes were included. Earlier, we’d asked if we could get in half an hour before the 2 PM check-in because our flight was at 2 AM and we needed rest. He offered either an extra payment or a good Booking review. We did neither. After 30 minutes, another guest who’d been waiting like us got a room, checked it, and came back to say there was no water. The receptionist confirmed this. We said we wanted to cancel our reservation, and suddenly he said our room was ready. When we asked about the water, he said he didn’t know when the plumber was coming. Keep your distance from this hotel. Absolute circus.
