I paid a good amount for this hotel, and the stay was disgusting. My other stays in Uzbekistan were top notch, though, so this place doesn't represent the country's hospitality. The property is ageing: the bathtub was shabby, the shower was broken, and the bathroom smelled. Staff weren't helpful, even when I needed help fixing the heater. I stayed on the night of December 31, and the restaurant was closed for no reason. I called to confirm breakfast for January 1, but none was ready the next morning. Staff were lying drunk on the sofa, and all I was offered was leftovers from the previous day's breakfast. I was also charged tourist tax without getting a receipt.

The worst part was being made to pay USD 8 for paint marks on the wall that we were wrongly accused of causing. It's not about the money, but being blamed for something we clearly hadn't done felt unjust. We had booked a king-size bed but got two twin beds, with no explanation or apology. The building is old and poorly kept, and the dirty carpets made the place feel unhygienic. The bed creaked loudly with every small movement. The toilet flush barely worked, and its door wouldn't lock properly. Our stay at Hotel Gloria in Tashkent was disappointing from start to finish. I strongly don't recommend this hotel. Booking.com should reconsider listing it. We regret not reading the other reviews before booking. Save yourself the trouble and stay somewhere else.

The staff were nice and the location was good, but I don't recommend staying here. I still have a headache, and this felt like a waste of money and a stay. I couldn't sleep all night. It's nearly 6 a.m. and I should be asleep, but I'm writing this instead. The bedding smelled bad, and the mattress was uneven and not thick or lofty like in other hotels. The old bathroom had a bad, yucky showerhead, and the toilet flush wasn't working. The carpet seemed so unclean I didn't want to step on it barefoot. The TV was old and not smart, with no YouTube. The spa wasn't working. I don't know yet how breakfast is.

I didn't like it at all. The bathrooms always smelled really bad, and everything was old. Breakfast was so poor that I was shocked on the first day and couldn't find anything to eat. At night, whenever I asked for something from the kitchen, they said it was closed, as if they'd shut everything after breakfast. There was nobody to help carry our bags up or down. This doesn't deserve more than one star.

I'd read earlier reviews saying the staff were unfriendly, but I found them quite kind. They arranged a taxi for my early morning airport trip, and twice in one day they looked after my luggage with a smile. The room condition, bathroom cleanliness and breakfast weren't all positive.
