Hotel Radisson Blu Hotel, Tashkent

I like Radisson blue as a brand, and this hotel lived up to what I expect from it. If you're finding your stay difficult, look for 'Samira'. Her kindness and ability really raise the quality of the hotel and help make a business trip in Tashkent comfortable. The hotel is above the main street. That could be a drawback if your business is in the south, but taxis make getting around no problem. I'll see you on my next visit.

I booked this place for the pool, but it was closed. A service man came and explained that the building unit had been switched off as the season was changing. That left me with three uncomfortable nights, apparently so management could save a few Som. This isn't up to Radisson standards, and I'm disappointed I still have two nights left. The room was far too hot to sleep in. The wall control wouldn't go below 22.5 to 23 (76 degrees), and the front desk told me to switch it off and open a window. With a highway right outside, the noise and pollution were bad. A construction site next door and the window layout also meant no breeze came in. I asked for a fan and was told no, sorry. They moved me two doors down, but there was still no a/c, and the building blocked the breeze. I ended up trying to cool off with a wet towel. This is not the comfort I expect from the Radisson. I wish I'd stayed at the Ateca, where my tour spent one night. It was much more comfortable and plush, had cooler rooms, cost less, and included free breakfast.

The young staff at both reception and the restaurant were helpful and keen to provide good service. Just what you'd hope for from an international four-star hotel. I was really satisfied.

The outdoor pool area was lovely, and the rooms were clean and modern. I emailed ahead to arrange an early check-in, and they sorted it out without any trouble. Can't fault the stay.
