The building is lovely and historic, and the panorama bar is a nice place to visit for a drink. That's about all I'd recommend. The service was bad on several fronts. They checked me in incorrectly, saying I'd booked a single when I'd reserved a double, and didn't apologize. At breakfast, staff spent more time gossiping than keeping the coffee pot filled. The room blankets seemed to be from the Soviet Union era, and I'd never before been charged an extra fee to store luggage.

Hotel Uzbekistan has a humble refinement to it, and is actually pretty schmick. Go Hotel Uzbekistan. Verry naice. The place has a faded, authentic feel, with good, well-priced food and views, plus Wi-Fi that's passable by comparison. If you've also been to the Hotel Kazakhstan, you might love one and hate the other. To me, Hotel Kazakhstan has nouveau riche, glitzy normie vibes and terrible Wi-Fi. The restaurant entrance is through a Lynchian foyer with a closed door. The bar looks like a student dorm, but the views are good and the food is cheap and wholesome. The “gym” is full of random broken equipment. There's also a hidden sauna(?) tub(?) full of Russians, which I wasn't sure about and was scared to enter. The hotel and staff still have a modestly refined feel.

The buffet breakfast had plenty of choice, the bar was well priced, and there was a luggage store. The metro is very close, with a park across the road and restaurants nearby. We had a brilliant stay in this iconic Tashkent building. Our room was very spacious and clean, with a large comfortable bed, a powerful hot shower, and great views. The room was quiet with the balcony door closed, though traffic noise came in when it was open. The plumbing was noisy, and the place was a bit tatty around the edges.

The restaurant area is what won me over, it’s gorgeous. I arrived in the middle of the night and was welcomed so warmly that I didn’t even need to turn on the thermostat. The room floors are heated, and they’ve clearly thought through the little details. Highly recommend. Love from Indonesia❤️

From the outside, this iconic Soviet building looks really striking. Staying there was much less impressive: the rooms feel very dated, the beds are awful, and although they keep things as clean as they can, the place badly needs updating. Breakfast was just okay. It’s normally in a small side room, though sometimes they move it to the ballroom after weddings or receptions. I’d sleep somewhere else, but it’s worth seeing the building from outside.
