FireFly Hotel Mustique

The views across Britannia Bay are gorgeous. Both the restaurant and bar have a charming, cozy feel, and Patrick can mix you to the moon with the martinis and cocktails.

There’s a new balcony going up right now, as of Sept 2014, and it’s definitely the best spot for a Mustique sunset. We’ve been going to Firefly for more than 14 years, and we love how quiet it can be. We’ve also visited when the bar was packed with guests and Island home owners. Either way, we’ve always felt very welcome, and it’s a relaxed place. The food is amazing, a mix of European dishes with a Caribbean twist. The standard is very high for the Windward Isles, though you are in the Windward Isles, not central New York or London.

The setting is idyllic, and the whole stay at the Firefly feels like a perfect Caribbean holiday. Days bring unspoiled beaches, beautiful scenery, events, and time to relax in the sun or enjoy terrific picnics. Then you can come back to the sublime atmosphere at the Firefly, Mustique, one of the most precious places in the West Indies. It’s the place to stay and meet people on Mustique, and I’ve met some real characters. Everywhere else seems dull, grey, and substandard by comparison. I’d been visiting the island for over 15 years and had never been disappointed by the warm welcome or the time spent at the 'Fly'. Stan and Liz Clayton have created and kept up an inviting, exciting atmosphere. In 2017, five years after writing my first praise, my wife and I returned. I was older and wiser, and nothing had changed: it was still a special place with very special people taking care of every need. It’s the dog's bollocks, as the English saying goes, meaning fabulous, unbeatable, dependable accommodation and hospitality.

We stayed in the Royal Palm room on our honeymoon, a beautiful place to watch the sunset over Brittania Bay. The whole visit was fantastic, and we’d definitely recommend Firefly. We were full board and the food was fantastic, especially the Shrimp roti. More than a week after leaving, we realised we’d lost diamond earrings after shaking them out of a bag over the balcony. We contacted Firefly, and the team searched through the garden outside our room and found them. We’re very grateful for their honesty and the effort they made to return our valuables. It made an already special stay on a lovely island even more memorable.
