The Sweet Retreat

We were disappointed by how unclean the room was. It needed a deep clean, and we had to wipe the sticky light switches before using them. There were no opening windows, and despite the air conditioning, the room smelled musty and the bathroom was damp. The location was beautiful and the hosts charming, but we rely on reviews when booking hotels and the reality let us down.

Our hosts Robert and Shelby were cheerful, attentive to everything we needed, and very knowledgeable about the island. We spent five days in paradise in the bungalow, which felt like our own private tree house among tropical fruit trees and greenery. It had a huge bed and a refreshing enclosed outdoor shower, with brilliant sea views from the balcony and just a couple of steps to the golden sand beach. They made us feel right at home. We really appreciated breakfast with fresh fruit salad and a surprise cupcake each morning. I highly recommend Sweet Retreat for an unforgettable stay.

Shelby’s meals were among the best I tried on Bequia, even after eating at most of the island’s restaurants. Breakfast and dinner really are a treat, and she’s a wonderful cook. Robert and Shelby are both so kind, and they made sure I had what I needed, from snorkeling gear and towels to an electric kettle. The price is fair, and I can’t imagine finding a better location on Bequia. A superb hotel.

A lovely spot for a small group, with three bedrooms, a full kitchen, an outdoor shower, and a smart TV. The affordable local restaurants are close by, too, and still serve tasty food. Best of all, the Lower Bay beachfront is only about five steps away. Amazing place!
