Costa Caribe Beach Hotel & Resort

The food made it impossible for us to eat any of the meals. It was mostly pasta and other carbs, and the protein looked like leftovers from the day before. I have celiac disease, and my mom has diabetes, so none of it worked for us. The bathroom in our first room was flooded, the toilet was leaking and smelled awful, and there was poop all over the toilet seat. When we asked for it to be cleaned because we needed to pee, a cleaner just wiped the seat with a dry cloth and said it was ready. We asked to move rooms and had to walk all the way to the other end of the hotel. My mom has mobility issues, remember, and the concierge was rushing us even while helping with the bags. I told the salesperson before booking that my mom is handicapped and can't manage stairs, and asked if she could get around the hotel. I was assured she could. But the service road we'd used before to accommodate her was closed, so she had to go down four flights of stairs. That was the main thing I'd asked them about. After that, they made us walk a long way to reach our room. The second room was a little better, but it had no Wi-Fi and no electrical outlets except the one for the TV. It's 2025, why is there only one outlet in a room? I'd been coming to this hotel my whole life and had always enjoyed staying there, so I booked a vacation for my mom and me expecting to relax and get away from everyday life in Venezuela for a bit. This short visit was a huge disappointment. It wasn't even a shadow of what the hotel used to be, and I can't believe it's still operating. It feels like it needs to shut down. I was asking for my money back and a way out within an hour of arriving. We got there late, but I asked again the next morning as soon as I woke up. They made us check out to process a refund minus the night we'd spent there. I hadn't enjoyed the stay or gotten any sleep, but fine, I agreed to pay for that night. Then they kept us waiting five hours to process half the refund. I wasn't leaving until I had at least half my money back. In the end, they refunded the whole amount after I threatened legal action. They'd said there was a no-refund policy because “what we advertise is what you are getting,” but that wasn't true. Don't be fooled by the pictures on websites or social media. The place is falling apart and doesn't have proper sanitary conditions for hosting multiple guests.
