Hotel Eco Inn Jose

I only stayed one night to break up the drive to Caracas the next day, and the price was very good. The hotel is especially convenient if you're working at or visiting the Criogenico de José, since it's so close. I arrived very late and clogged the toilet after using the bathroom. It wasn't fixed until the next day, which is probably why I wasn't very impressed with the service. Still, I hadn't expected the stay to be this good. It was incredible.

We paid 25 USD in BsF for a night on the road. The place was clean and well kept, with a good breakfast and an okay dinner. There's nothing around, but that didn't have to put us off.

The grounds are a real draw: the green spaces, pools, and thatched gazebos are kept up well, and the distant beach views make it nice to spend the day there. Inside, though, the furniture badly needs an update. The sheets, towels, and curtains were stained or worn, and I think some room furniture should be thrown out right away. The food is very expensive, including €8 for a strawberry juice, and the quality doesn't match the prices. I suspect they're short-staffed, and the waitress seemed overwhelmed. In general, the staff could use more training. Even so, it's still the best hotel in the area.

The setting was quiet and pleasant, up on a hill beside the highway between Puerto la Cruz and Caracas. We found the staff friendly and helpful, and the food was good for fair prices. Our room opened straight onto a clean pool with a great view of the coast. There was plenty of free parking in front, with an even entrance. Breakfast was included, and for the price it was sensational. We'd happily come back.
