Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina

We enjoyed our stay, with beautiful views around the property, well kept grounds, and a very clean resort. North Beach and Marina Cay were favorites, and getting to Trellis Bay was easy. The water taxi was excellent, friendly, and on time. Our room had some upgrades and was nice, but still felt like a hotel room. There are some really convenient options here, but it just didn’t feel 5 star. I took a star off because communication with guests was lacking, with gaps in the chain of communication.

The Scrub Island ferry from Trellis Bay made getting to the resort easy, and the staff throughout were very friendly. The resort was smaller than I expected and didn’t feel as luxurious as the price suggested. There are some fun amenities, including kayaks, paddleboards, a water trampoline, two pools with one infinity pool, and two swim-up bars. We couldn’t find anyone to help when we wanted to kayak, which was disappointing, and no one clearly told us about the shuttle to another beach. Prices were a big drawback. Drinks cost a lot, and the extra 20% service charge adds up quickly. For that cost, it didn’t feel like a true 5-star experience. Our meal at the “high-end” Cardamom & Co. was poor, though lunch at Donovan’s Reef was one of the better parts of the day. There were enjoyable things about the visit, but the value didn’t match the cost. I personally wouldn’t return because it felt overpriced for the experience.

We came back from a fantastic week with four adults and two little kids, ages 3 years and 3 months. The two-bedroom suite was a great choice. The staff across the resort were so helpful and did what they could to make things easy for everyone. We placed a provisioning order before we arrived, and they’d already unpacked it and put everything in the fridge. With all the gear we travel with for young kids, it was great that they regularly called a complimentary cart to take us to North Beach. The whole resort feels luxurious, and being on a private island made it feel like we could really explore. The setting is stunning. Don’t miss the spa. I had a three-hour treatment on our last day, and booking through WhatsApp was easy. I wish I’d booked earlier so I could have gone back. We can’t wait to return.

We stayed aboard, so I can’t comment on the rooms. The bar was excellent, especially the one at the top infinity pool. Try the rum runners with guava. Dinner at Cardamom was wonderful too. We split a rack of lamb, mango Christophine salad, and scallops, all super.
