The Heritage Inn

The restaurant is a lovely place to watch the sunset, and the hilltop setting overlooking the ocean is beautiful. Just be mindful of water use, since water is hard to come by. If taking long showers is a must for you, you may want to stay somewhere else.

Tia, the on-site manager, was waiting when we arrived hours before check-in. Her smile and warmth made us feel at home right away. She showed us to our room and said to knock on her door if we needed anything. The room was cozy and quiet, and we slept like babies without hearing outside noise. I loved the view with my morning coffee, and the little kitchenette let us make our meals each day. The room, the view, and the staff who helped us throughout our stay were all wonderful. We fell in love with Tortola, but even more with Heritage Inn. Next year we're coming back with a few people. We chose three rooms here instead of renting a giant house to save money, and we honestly can't wait. I almost kept quiet about the place because I selfishly want it to be our little secret.

Long Bay Beach is a little over a 10-minute drive away, and Cane Garden Beach is even closer, under 10 minutes. Both are great beaches. Getting to the place takes a bit of effort, but the views across the other islands are lovely.

After having some time to get past how angry and humiliated I felt, I want to give a fairer picture of the place itself. We were welcomed in person and shown to our rooms. The rooms were comfortable, with amazing views, and the open-air restaurant served well-prepared food with live music. We could special-order breakfast, and that was a lovely start to each day. I do wish the staff had been more mindful of our privacy and more careful with booking procedures. The payment issue happened on the second of our two nights. At dinner, with the two other couples we traveled with, we were told openly that we had to use a different payment method from the Discover card we booked with. Our travel agent made the booking. If Discover wasn't accepted, that should have been made clear then, instead of bringing it up at dinner and embarrassing us in front of our companions. I am FURIOUS! 😡 We would have given five stars otherwise.
