Bluebeard's Castle Villas III by Capital Vacations

We’ve usually stayed at Bluebeard's when visiting St. Thomas, and Christmas week was another visit. We were in one of Pirate Pension's multi-level buildings on the hillside. Our unit was a spacious studio with a balcony and gorgeous views. It had a comfortable king-size bed, a large bathroom with a walk-in shower, a sofa, tables, a flat-screen TV, and a small glass-top dining table. The kitchen area came with a microwave, small refrigerator, sink, counter, cabinets, drawers, dishes, cutlery, and cooking utensils. We love the location high on the hill, overlooking Charlotte Amalie's harbor and the Havensight marina. Town, the Havensight mall stops, and the cruise ship dock are only a few minutes away.

The restaurant is lovely, and I’d definitely recommend breakfast at the Sunny café. Bluebeards castle is an attractive old resort-style hotel with beautiful 360° views of St. Thomas ports. You can walk to the actual Blackbeards fort and the towns below. The cabins and amenities could use some updating.

After a miserable stay at Windward Passage hotel, we were stressed and scrambling for a room at the end of an otherwise lovely trip. We found Bluebeards by accident, but you should seek it out on purpose. The friendly staff welcomed us, and we had lunch and a nap by the pool. Our room was nicely appointed, cool, spotless, and peaceful. I can highly recommend Bluebeards Castle for a vacation.

The views are spectacular, and the rooms were very nice. I was there in the off-season, so some things weren’t operating. For fresh towels, put the ones in the blue bag under the bathroom sink outside your door and let them know what you need, and they’ll bring them. You’re close to downtown, but walking anywhere means dealing with a really steep incline. Island time, for sure!
