We could tell the location might be beautiful, but cloudy weather and drizzle obscured it for us. Getting there also means taking some off-road motorbike rides. The rooms were tiny and lined up together under one roof, about seven in all, so we heard our drunk “roommates” talking until midnight. The heated blankets helped a lot with those rock-hard mattresses. An interesting experience, though definitely overpriced.

It’s peaceful here despite being a long way from the village, with lovely views and none of the hustle or dust. The staff were friendly and excellent. I especially enjoyed the local soup at breakfast. The other food was delicious too, though some people might find it unusual.

The lodge helped me find a superb rider who took me through forests and waterfalls, to lovely sunsets, and to beautiful places I wouldn’t have discovered on my own. I organized my solo outings over WhatsApp, and it was all very easy. During my four nights at Taxua Ecolodge in November 2025, my room was clean and comfortable, and the shared bathrooms and toilets stayed spotless. The staff were so warm and friendly that I felt welcome right away. I had a great stay and would definitely recommend Taxua Ecolodge and its tour planning to visitors in the area.

The bedrooms sit right above the restaurant, and smells, music, and laughter drift up through gaps in the floorboards. There’s also no real sound buffer or privacy because the walls stop short of the ceiling, and the shared hallway light shines into the rooms. I can’t recommend this place to anyone, for any reason.

The view was the best I’ve ever seen during a stay, and the staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. The mattress is hard and the pool isn’t very clean, but that view is unbeatable. The food is excellent too.
