Ba Danh Home

We were given a triple room after booking two nights in a Double Room, and it felt pretty cramped. The simple accommodation includes a big continental breakfast, and the host was quick to answer questions. It’s out in the small villages beyond Ben Tre town centre. Shops and restaurants are nearby, and the free bikes made them easy to reach. Noise could be an issue, though: the rooms aren’t enclosed by a roof, and some guests were chatting loudly around 5am and playing music from a phone at 6.

Beautiful, and a really relaxing place to spend my last night riding around Vietnam on my motorcycle. The wooden building is rustic, the bed was comfy, and the food was good. There were canoes too. It’s among coconut palms and banana trees, reached along a small concrete path that was fine for my bike. Backpackers were brought in as far as vehicles could go. It felt authentic, and it’s cheap and affordable. If you’re after more luxury, stay somewhere else.

The calm, slow pace was the best part for us. Ba Danh Homestay & Kitchen sits in a coconut palm garden, surrounded by birds and greenery, with local life all around and tourist crowds far away. It still felt close enough to explore Ben Tre. The hosts welcomed us like family and were warm, caring, and ready to help. We loved the fresh, flavorful food from Ba Danh Kitchen, which felt made with care. The whole stay had a grounded, heartfelt feel. We’d come back in a heartbeat.

The staff were so kind, and the dogs and cat were adorable and friendly. The rooms are basic but clean, with comfy beds. I also made friends for life here, and we stayed up late for pretty much the whole visit. The food wasn’t great, though it was fresh. Breakfast was simple: banh mi, egg with no salt, fruit, and tea or coffee. I skipped the coffee, but the tea was really tasty. A few restaurants are nearby, though you might need the free bikes to get to them.
