Can Tho Riverside Hostel

I really liked the peaceful setting and the river seating area, which had a lovely breeze and made it easy to chat with other travelers. The surrounding area felt more appealing to me than Can Tho city centre, and it was nice to see everyday Vietnamese life. The host was incredibly helpful, including arranging onward travel and a pickup from the hostel, and her sons were very sweet. In the dorm, I appreciated having a privacy curtain, though the beds were uncomfortable and I wished there were a lamp.

The room was set up as a low-ceiling bedroom, which I really liked, and the hard floor with a mattress on it worked for me. I had a socket-light and AC, so it was pretty good all around. The host and her family were attentive and ready to help with whatever I needed. It also felt like an authentic way to see how Vietnamese people live and run a small community.

There are lovely locals and food around the area, though construction started early in the morning. This family wasn't friendly to me because I'm viet kieu. That's normal for me, and I'm used to it, so this place was just another one.

We had such a nice stay here. It's quiet and quaint, the rooms are clean, and there's a pool table. The owner is super sweet and made the whole visit great. Breakfast by the water was amazing, and the spring rolls are delicious if you want a late-night snack.
