Chi’S House

I ended up staying at Chi’s House for at least two weeks on and off while touring around, after also trying four or five other places. It was the best, and so cheap. I can’t recommend it enough. The lady is very sweet and, although her English is limited, she’s so accommodating. Changing rooms, doing laundry, renting bikes, it can all be arranged. One night I was so tired she even went out and got me lots of food. I’ll definitely be back and wouldn’t bother looking at other hotels. 10/10. I booked before arriving in CAO Bang, and when I got in later than expected after a seven-hour journey, I was greeted with a smile and a quick, easy check-in. My first room was a double at the back, with comfortable beds and pillows, hot water, a kettle, tea and coffee. The next morning I saw the river-facing rooms with balconies and asked to move. The lady was happy to help. Room #301 had a nice little balcony for an evening beer and watching the world go by. In the afternoons, men cast net for fish, and it was cool to watch all the Vietnamese people going about their business. The room had a stylish three-bunk-bed setup, a TV and a kettle. I liked it so much I extended my stay again and again. Then I moved downstairs to room #201, which was even better. One floor lower, it had a plush queen-sized bed, a good-sized smart TV with all the channels, a small fridge, a balcony, and a great bathroom. For the money, it beats many other places all over Vietnam.
