Muong Thanh Holiday Con Cuong Hotel

I really didn't want to leave. For $30 including breakfast, this place is a bargain. The rooms are spacious and clean, and mine looked out over the river. It was very quiet, the staff were friendly, and I ate some good food at the restaurant. There's a big supermarket right next door.

The river view from our room was lovely, and we had a wonderful three-night stay. Staff gave us suggestions for places to see nearby and sorted out a scooter rental for us. Anh was especially helpful with transport to our next destination. His local knowledge made it much less complicated and expensive than it could have been. The other staff were lovely too.

The pool was a nice place to cool off or get some exercise, though local people were often there, so it wasn't especially quiet if you wanted to relax. The gym was peaceful and had a couple of machines, enough for a proper workout. My wife and I stayed in the supreme duplex room, which was cozy, nicely decorated, and had mesmerising views. From the moment we arrived, the staff were so friendly. They spotted in our passports that my wife's birthday was the next day and surprised her with a cake at breakfast, wishing her a happy birthday. The setting is beautiful, looking out over the river and limestone hills. Rooms are quiet and a moderate size, with good amenities and excellent WiFi. Not all the staff speak English. I hope the place keeps being maintained well. One downside is that guests are allowed to smoke in the lobby. They should make the whole hotel smoke-free.
