Q Song Chi Hotel

The woman who spoke English was very welcoming, and the hotel was mostly clean. Still, it felt expensive by Vietnam standards, and I found a cockroach in the bathroom. One guy also tried to charge us too much for a couple of drinks from the fridge, so they could use more English-speaking staff. I was pleased overall.

From the roof, the views were good, and the room itself was clean and comfortable with effective air conditioning. The staff were helpful, and you could get breakfast, rent a moped or bicycles, or arrange an airport shuttle for a reasonable fee. It was a convenient spot near town and the markets, about a 15-minute walk to the beach. I stayed in room 512, overlooking the island radio station's broadcast centre across the street. Its loud speaker broadcasts started around 5:30 a.m. and happened a few times a day. It was interesting at first, but otherwise this was a comfortable hotel for my week on Con Dao.

The location made it easy to reach cafes, restaurants, an ATM, the market and a pharmacy. Staff were nice, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the AC worked. Airport transfers cost 50,000 VND per person, which seemed fair to us, and they also rent motorcycles. During our five nights, the shower's hot water was weak and unreliable. The bathroom drains smelled, and a window leaked. A pretty standard place overall.

The owner was such a lovely woman and helped us a lot when my boyfriend needed to go to the hospital after a small accident. We ended up staying quite a while. The rooms were neat, breakfast was simple and nice, and the staff were friendly.
