The Scent Boutique Dalat Hotel

We were relieved to leave, honestly. The place sits right on an extremely busy main road, and behind it is an abandoned, half-demolished beer hall. We had confirmed and paid for our Agoda booking in advance, but on arrival were told reception wasn’t staffed. Someone was there, asleep. After we’d waited 10 minutes and I got frustrated, he woke up and said, “sorry we are fully room now.” Unbelievable. They offered another place with terrible Google reviews, and it felt like we’d dodged a bullet. Check the lowest reviews here, there are so many fake ones!

I had such a good stay. The rooms are beautiful, clean, and comfortable, and the owners are lovely. It’s budget friendly too, and just a minute away from the park. I’d definitely recommend it.

For 500k VND per night in May 2018, the cheapest room for a couple was pretty nice, though a bit cramped. The WC, by comparison, had enough space. It came with a smart TV, a Bluetooth speaker, and an aroma oil diffuser. The place is close enough to the center, but far enough from the crowds to stay peaceful. A good Dalat stay if you’re looking to unwind.

The room was dirty and moldy, and the staff weren’t helpful. When we arrived, I asked three times for help with our luggage. He just smiled and didn’t answer. When I asked why, he said they didn’t help because it’s a small hotel. I checked in at 9 pm, but there was no hot water. The staff told me to wait 30 minutes, and we were still freezing at 18 degrees with no hot water. He said it was because we’d checked in late, so we had to wait. That’s ridiculous. I’d already paid, and the hotel should have everything ready before we arrived. It was almost 11 pm by then, and I needed a shower and sleep, so I asked to switch rooms. He refused, saying he needed the room for tomorrow. Are tomorrow’s guests more important than us when we’re paying for this service? Terrible service!
