Tulip Hotel 1

The location is pretty good, but I don’t plan to return and wouldn’t recommend the hotel. The bed, pillows, and blankets were old, dirty, and smelly. Reception said the room was cleaned every day, though I’m not convinced: there was a small dirty mark on the bed when I arrived, and it was still there after three nights. On our last morning, a trolley was left right outside our room from early morning until noon, when we checked out, leaving us barely enough space to get in and out. I assumed they were cleaning our floor and would move it afterward, but they didn’t. It made leaving and entering the room really difficult, and felt like they were pushing us to check out.

We had a really good stay in a surprisingly spacious room, with its own seating area. The hotel was very clean and the staff friendly, though there was a lot of hair on the bathroom floor. The bed and pillow were rock hard, but I think that’s normal here. I don’t understand Vietnamese, but the TV had no signal and didn’t work.

The hotel was terribly noisy, and I wish we’d taken the reviews about noise more seriously before booking. Our first room was at the top of the lobby stairs, with an open timber vent to the stairwell instead of a proper window, so every conversation at reception carried in. When I asked to move, they said no. I played them a recording of the noise, and the reception staff spoke to each other in Vietnamese and laughed. The next day they moved us to another room, but it smelled of paint fumes and was just as noisy. Do not stay here.

The attentive staff and porter made a good impression. I left my selfie stick in the lobby and only realized after I’d gone out. When I returned to ask at reception about lost property, they had kept it for me. This hotel is very good quality.
