An Bang Golden Beach Villa

I stayed four nights, and the receptionist is the reason I’d recommend this villa. She lives there with her family and was friendly without coming on too strong, which I appreciated since I don’t trust people who are aggressively friendly. From our conversation she suggested a motorcycle rental and airport transport at reasonable prices. Being able to pick up and return the motorcycle at the villa saved a lot of vacation time. I also felt looked after when she messaged me after I was late returning from a long night ride.

The room was large and had air conditioning and a fridge, with two bottles of water provided each day. It was great value on Agoda at $20 a night. The sandy beach is lovely and only three minutes away. I stayed for three days and recommend it.

An Bang still has the charm it had in 2019, and after three years of Covid-19 restrictions it was lovely to be back. Our family of four, with boys aged 14 and 17, stayed more than two weeks at this relaxing new hotel. The receptionist, Thu Trinh Trần, speaks fluent English and was very helpful. The beach is clean, with clear water and white sand. Walking towards Da Nang, we found a long, beautiful stretch that was completely deserted. There are two small restaurants about a half hour's walk away for drinks and fresh seafood snacks. It takes six minutes to walk to the beach, and the route brought back memories of Greece and Spain before mass tourism changed their charm. One thing to know: hotels show beach photos in their listings, but NONE of them are actually on the beach. Our room had a balcony, fridge, and very effective air conditioning, and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast comes from a menu with Asian and Western choices, fresh baguette, and fruit. I especially liked the three-egg omelet with onion, tomato, and ham, while the boys often had pho. The morning market, where you can buy fresh fruit, is only 40 meters away. Hoi An is easy to reach by motorbike or by inexpensive taxi, 150k return.

The garden is lovely, and everything feels new, neat, and clean. It's right beside a busy market and a bakery selling fresh croissants. The homestay lady, her husband, and their assistant were all so warm and sweet. Breakfast was wholesome and good.
