Ancient Terracotta Villa

The owners were welcoming and helped us book activities, and the pool was deep, clean, and nice. Our room was spacious and lovely, with a balcony and a comfortable bed. It’s on a quiet street, which was nice in Vietnam, and close enough to the old town to get there easily, though not quite within walking distance. I’d rate the cleaning 4/5 and everything else 5/5. We had a lovely stay and I recommend it.

We liked staying outside the main part of Hoi An Old Town, with an easy walk into town from here. Breakfast was simple but good. The owners didn’t speak much English, so when my partner got food poisoning, explaining things was a bit hit and miss. Since it was our checkout day, they kindly let us keep the room longer so he could rest and recover in the cool.

My family stayed for two nights in March 2023. At the time, it seemed fine, nothing special but certainly not bad, so I wasn’t going to write a review. After the disappointments we had at other places in Vietnam, from luxury resorts to basic homestays, I’ve grown much fonder of this modest one. The pool was clean and big enough to swim in, the shower had hot and cold water, and the bed was comfortable with space around it. The area and other guests were quiet, and the couple running the place were kind and knew the area well. I think reviews are often either glowing or harsh warnings, since who bothers writing about a stay they feel neutral about? This one deserves my full five stars.

The hosts were welcoming and really nice, and there’s a nice pool too. We had a great stay and would recommend the place.
