Blue Beach Village Homestay

You get a bit of Vietnam home life along with the hotel stay here. The room was spacious and had its own bathroom, and there’s a shared balcony if you want to smoke. Breakfast was wonderful, with eggs, toast, or pancakes. The beach and cheap restaurants are only a five-minute walk away. Such a wonderful place.

We felt so welcome in the hosts’ home. They’re amazing, friendly, and always ready to help. Our room was clean, and a couple of quiet beaches are just a short walk away. Having motorbikes was handy for getting to Hoi An town and An Bang beach.

We stayed in the huge upstairs room at the front of the house. The bed was exceptionally big and comfortable, and the massive bathroom had an efficient shower with hot water for as long as we ran it. There was a fridge with water, beer, soft drinks, and snacks, plus air con, a ceiling fan, and a safe. A code-protected gate gives you security if you come home late. Pinky, the manager, serves breakfast on the large balcony each morning: iced coffee, fresh juices, banana pancakes and/or eggs, and a big plate of tropical fruit. It’s about five minutes to the excellent An Bang beach and even closer to loads of restaurants and Spas. Pinky can sort out bikes, taxis, laundry, spa visits, and just about anything else, and has tips for food and local sights. Cheap, convenient, spotless, and friendly. Just keep in mind there can be quite a bit of background noise if you’re there during Tet (Chinese New Year).

The room was nice, clean, and had a comfortable bed. It’s around a five-minute walk to the beach, with restaurants and minimarts close by. The service, though, was poor. The owner was slow to reply, and the internet showed “no internet connection” throughout our stay. No one came to fix it despite our requests. We also asked for a fan and light to be repaired, but that never happened. Over our whole eight-day stay, the room wasn’t cleaned once. We had to search around the building for toilet paper and clean towels. We were there during Tet holidays, so the celebrations may explain some of the lack of service, but that doesn’t make it okay for the room rate.
