Brilliant Majestic Hotel

It’s cheap, and the pho at the restaurant next door was nice. It might work for one night if you ask for a room on the road side, which was ironically the quieter side. But the room felt tired and short on care. Both rooms had holes in the sheets, and there was a lot of dust on the wooden divider in the second one. The sliding bathroom door was poor quality and wouldn’t open, so I could have been stuck if I’d been alone. Booking.com also listed bedside sockets, soundproofing, and a patio, none of which were there. A man smoked in the hallway in front of a no smoking sign, though I guess that wasn’t the hotel’s fault. The music from what seemed like a nearby nightclub thumped until late, starting around 7pm, and was completely unmanageable for sleeping. I don’t need silence, but I do need to sleep. To their credit, they moved us across the hall when I asked, and we couldn’t hear it in the new room. They first said there were no other rooms available, though, so I don’t know why they didn’t put us there to begin with.

The beach is nearby, and the pho restaurant downstairs was genuinely enjoyable, much better than the hotel. The rest of our stay at Brilliant Majestic Hotel in Da Nang was disappointing, and I won’t return. The bed was extremely hard, the shower was cold or inconsistent and made a loud noise whenever we turned it on. The air conditioning worked well, but the room was otherwise in poor shape: a broken window, burn marks on the curtains and window seat, and old set-in stains on the bedding. At checkout we found ants in the headboard that seemed to be getting into the bed, which was unsettling and raised concerns about cleanliness and maintenance. The pool water was stagnant and appeared to be a breeding ground for bacteria, so it was unusable. Service also fell short. Front desk staff seemed more interested in watching a movie than helping guests, and there wasn’t much attentiveness or hospitality. We were given just one roll of toilet paper per day, which felt unnecessarily restrictive. The spa downstairs came across as pushy upselling rather than a relaxing experience. The stay affected our time in Da Nang, and we left the city earlier than planned. I wouldn’t recommend it and would encourage others to look elsewhere.

It’s modern and clean, with no mold in our room, which seems rare in that part of Da nang, especially at this price. We had a bathtub, though I’m not sure every room does. The beach, cafes, and restaurants are close by. One thing to know: booking a standard double or twin room may mean a window facing the staircase, rather than the pretty tree shown in the photo. At least it wasn’t as dark as a windowless room. The listing said double bed, but ours was two spacious single beds pushed together. There’s also karaoke next door, so weekends can be loud. We didn’t stay long enough to say about other days.

The power kept cutting in and out, and the outlets felt unsafe even for a phone charger. When I tried the hairdryer, it exploded in my hand with a loud PENG and a flame. I managed to throw it on the floor, and luckily nothing major happened. The shocking part was reception acting as if this happened all the time. There were cockroaches in some other rooms, and my friend was trapped in the bathroom for half an hour because the door was stuck. The pool was really small, karaoke and street noise were very loud, and the hair washing was really bad. Reception didn’t seem to care and was never there. Management offered us a few drinks as compensation but wouldn’t refund us for the terrible stay. The worst hotel I’ve been to. I wouldn’t stay here even for free.
