Cordial Hotel

The location was great, which is why I stuck it out. I booked two weeks online based on the pool photos and the gym, but neither matched what was shown. The gym was basically a kids’ area with a few old weights, and the pool was tiny and crowded. Kids played in the hallway all day. The room barely got cleaned, and after a week I had to ask them to change the sheets. Even then, it wasn’t cleaned very well. The bathroom sink was always clogged.

The rooftop pool is a good spot to watch the international firework competition, and there’s secure motorcycle parking in the sister hotel’s garage across the street. The main draw here is how close you are to the beach for the price. The Dragon Bridge is about a 30-minute walk away. The room, breakfast, and rooftop pool were all just okay. We had no hot water for our entire stay, the towels and beds were uncomfortable, and the walls are so thin that you can hear through them. Housekeeping also starts at 6 a.m. For this price it’s passable, though there are better hotels and areas to stay in.

The room was clean and comfortable, with a really nice bed and pillows, plus a good shower. The buffet had plenty to choose from, though I’d have liked more vegetarian options. From what I saw in earlier reviews, that may already be an improvement. A couple of things were missing or empty, including the TV remote and minibar. I couldn’t use the rooftop bar or pool because they were “reserved,” which was disappointing. The location felt pretty average, but the hotel had a polished feel and the staff were professional and courteous, more so than at many places I’ve stayed in this city.

We stayed at Cordial 1, which was fine for one night, but I didn’t think it was worth the price. There’s little soundproofing, so we could hear our neighbors talking, and the beds were rock hard. Breakfast was poor too. If you’re coming to Da Nang for the beach and cocktails, there are better located hotels. Check carefully when booking: a hotel called Cordial Grand is across the road, and both are owned by the same hotel. It felt a bit like a scam because the booking.com listing uses photos of the nicer hotel. The stay was disappointing for what we paid.
